What is the Light Fund?

We are a group of friends and colleagues who happen to work in the same industry and who want to try to make a contribution to UK-based charities. The fund was created in 2004 as a result of an idea by Jakki Brown of Max Publishing, who dreamt  up a plan for businesses and individuals in our industry to put something back into the community.

The Light Fund name is an acronym standing for

Licensing Industry Giving Help Together

Licensing is a business area concerned with buying and selling intellectual property (IP) rights. That sounds a bit pompous, however, which is far from the true ‘light’ in which to view us. Our business is TV shows, personalities, sports, brands, movies, and all the products that can be made using images and designs from those various forms of entertainment and endeavour. Licensing is a fun industry, with many fun people, and through the Light Fund some of our collective, creative energy is ploughed back into raising money for good causes.
